It wasn’t that long ago Gay and Lesbians were considered deviants.

Gay sex was regarded as deviant sex. Many states had or still have laws that criminalize gay sex.

I was watching the Prime Video show The Guardians, filmed in 2003. Gay was still stigmatized, and people could be blackmailed when their secret was exposed to evil people. Back then, Gay people were sinners. Conversion therapy was the preferred “treatment” by the affluent class. Gay people used to be killed for fun, and nobody would care.

Today, Transgender people are facing the same oppression that gays and lesbians used to face. Even some gays and lesbians are teaming up against transgender people. These are the young gays and lesbians who have never gone through the deadly discrimination launched against gays and lesbians in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. Today’s young gay people think our society has always been accepting of them. What a delusional shame.

Transgender people are not perfect people. The general population of America is not perfect either. There are some with mental illness. There are some with deviant tendencies. There are thieves, thugs, burglars, drug dealers, drug addicts, and even rapists in our general population, transgender or not. But there are also large groups of innocent, kind, generous, and hard-working people in our general population and the transgender communities.

The only reason transgender people are being targeted is the exact reason why gay people were targeted. They are different. They are a small minority group. They are vulnerable. They are weak. They are the outcasts. The bullies, the low intellect, the inferior people, and the cowards of our society will always attack the vulnerable and the weakest in any community because that is how these cowards can tell themselves that they are superior and strong. The same reason why KKK members attacked the blacks. They were cowards. Blacks were the weakest and most vulnerable group in our community then. And so they attack black people en mass.

Today, if you are one of those people who attack the right of existence of transgender people, you are no different than the KKK, or the religious bigots who condemned gay people as deviants and forced them into conversion therapy. You are no different than the police who used to kick the shit out of gay people when given a chance.

You may point out that some of the transgender people have gone too far. You may be right. But have any social or political group in our general population never gone too far on anything? Have you never gone too far on any one thing? Should those groups and yourself be condemned because a few have gone too far, or you have gone too far on a few things?

We judged transgender people as if we are the superior people and they are the deviants who must be subjected to our domination. We “allowed” them to live amongst us. And they must, therefore, be under our scrutiny at all times. If we think they have a mental illness, then they must be treated as such. If parents dare to treat their transgender children by methods that we rightfully believe they ought not to do, then the parents must not be allowed to take care of their children. How dare these deviant parents be allowed to do their best for their children?

Transgender people are people with all the same flaws as we all have. We are no better than the transgender people. Just like white people are no better than black people. Just like men are no better than women. Just like straight sex is not better than gay sex. Just like a cis-woman is no better than a trans-woman. We are all different in some ways. Different is not a sin. We are no God, and we can’t judge other’s morality because we, too, are sinners.

Live and let live.

You are not the master over anyone. If you think you should master over someone, you are nothing but a coward.
